Are you looking for me?

Are you looking for me?

Are you looking for me?
I am in the next seat.
My shoulder is against yours.

You will not find me in the stupas,
not in Indian shrine rooms, nor synagogues,
nor in cathedrals:

not in masses, nor kirtans,
not in legs winding around your own neck,
nor in eating nothing but vegetables,

When you really look for me, you will see me instantly -
you will find me in the tiniest house of time.

Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?
He is the breath inside the breath.

Neither Be Not Not Be . Instead Be Without Being

Many days, I spent in wonder:
Who am I? Where do I come from?
Where am I going?
This writing is the result of my meditation.
It is by no means truth.
The truth, can only be realized within.
These words interpret
What I have found within my own heart.

We are body.
We are mind.
We are heart.
We are spirit.
We are light.
The body is what does.
The mind is what thinks.
The heart is what feels.
The spirit is what lives.
The light is what is.

The body is sustained by food, water, and air.
The mind is sustained by truth.
The heart is sustained by joy.
The spirit is sustained by purpose.
The light is sustained by its source.

The light is what was before being
and remains after being.
Yet being is not separate from what is,
for it is light taken shape and form
and coming into being.
Everything is light and born of light.
Even the shadows do not exist without light.

Examine the ten thousand things,
beyond form,
and find its only being
is the shape of its light.

The difference between the living
and the non-living
is that the sentient tend to the light.
The rest are like lamps without oil,
cold and still.

The world of being
is a world of suffering,
a world sustained by shadows.
It is created by our mistaking
this body, this mind, this heart and this spirit
for what is.
In forgetting our light
we forget what sustains us,
draw away from the source,
and we begin to grow dim.
We hunger
and desire is born.
We consume the light
of what surrounds us.
Our fulfillment is always short lived.
A desire fulfilled is replaced with another.
Fire must always be fed to be.
Suffering is born.

In the world of non-being
the flame is no longer fed.
It is losing self,
it is being no longer,
it is the flame put out.

Neither be
nor not be.
Instead,
be without being.

Like the bright star
in our corner of the universe,
that does not let go
of what she protects,
the source of our light
keeps us near.

Close your eyes
and see the shapeless form
that embraces us
within and without.
Close your ears
and hear the whisper
of the music that calls us home.

Find your original face.
Find the Way back home.

Please teach me, Lord

Please teach me, Lord ...
I want to know
Exactly how to pray.
I need some words
Which ones are right?
Please tell me what to say.

I've bowed my head
I have knelt down,
But ... should I be upright?
I've closed my eyes,
I've raised my hands,
Or ... should I fold them tight?

Do I stand up?
Should I sit down?
Dear Lord ... what do you like?
Are lights turned on
Or are they off?
Maybe ... candle light?

Wear my glasses?
Take them off?
Be at my desk or table?
Should I whisper?
Speak out loud?
Do I quote the Bible?

What do you think
About the time?
Do You prefer the dawn?
Should I pray fast,
Or keep it slow?
Better short ... or long?

I'm new at this
What are the rules?
I want to do it right.
How do I know
You'll even hear
That I am in Your sight?

And while I sat there quietly,
Waiting for some sign,
I heard a gentle voice say,
"Oh, dearest child of mine ...
Do you think I really care
About the time of day,
Or whether you are standing up,
Or kneeling when you pray?"

"I don't care about your posture,
Or about the place you choose;
Just open up your soul to me,
I have no other rules.
Tell me what is in your heart,
And tell me what you seek;
Tell me of your sorrows,
And of those things that made you weak."

"Speak to me in private
About what concerns you most;
I know about your good deeds ...
You have no need to boast.
My child, you don't need lessons,
Just talk to me each day;
Tell me anything you want, dear child,
Anyone can pray."

Do Not

Do Not
Undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.
It is because we are different, that each of us is special.

Do Not...
Set your goals by what other people deem important.
Only you know what is best for you..

Do Not...
Take for granted the things closest to your heart
Cling to them as you would your life for without them life is meaningless.

Do Not...
Let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past nor for the future
By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.

Do Not...
Give up when you still have something to give
Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
It is a fragile thread that binds us to each other.

Do Not...
Be afraid to encounter risks
It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Do Not...
Shut love out your life by saying it is impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give love
The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly.

Do Not...
Dismiss your dreams
To be without dreams is to be without hope
To be without hope is to be without purpose.

Do Not...
Run through life so fast that you forget
not only where you have been but also where you are going.

Faith is knowing that one of two things will happen.

When you come to the edge of all the light you know and are about to step into the darkness of the unknown. Faith is knowing that one of two things will happen. There will be solid ground to stand on or you will be taught to fly.

HE's THE MAN

"HE's THE MAN"

I came to the point of being hopeless
No one to ask for help
I run, I scream and even cry
I cried but no tears fell from my eyes.

I want to die to stop the burden
Go back to the womb of my mother
To be safe and feel the unconditional love
Because this world hurts me a lot.

I have enough reason to rest in peace
Until I feel the tight embrace
He whispers, "Don't quit my dear, I am here to help..."
That simple line gives me enough strength.

Because He was undeniably powerful
helps me even when I am sinful
Saves me from being miserable
Opens my eyes to a new bright dimension

Who made the grasshopper?

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?

This grasshopper, I mean–
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down–
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.

I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.

Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?

Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

Every gun that is fired

Every gun that is fired, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hope of its children.

The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than thirty cities. It is two electric plants, each serving a town of sixty thousand population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete highway.

We pay for a single fighter plane with a half-million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than eight thousand people. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging upon a cross of iron…

We aspire to this: the lifting, from the backs and from the hearts of men, of their burden of arms and fears – so that they may find before them a golden age of freedom and of peace.

Your thoughts guide you to your destiny.

Your thoughts guide you to your destiny.
If you always think the same
you will always get to the same place.
Think in a new way and you will be a new person.
Give happiness to all and you will live in peace.
Create peace in your mind and
you will create a world of peace around you.

Never stop caring for the little things in Life,
Never stop dreaming or give into strife.
Never stop building bridges that leads to promising tomorrows,
Never stop trying or give into sorrow.
Never stop smiling and looking forward to each new day, but most of all
Never stops shining in your own special way.

Life is the hardest school, as you never know
What level of class you are in,
What exam you will have next and
you can't cheat because nobody else
will have the same question paper.

Making mistakes is something we all do

"Making mistakes is something we all do,
and I am still fine and worthwhile person when I make them.

There is no reason for me to get upset when I make a mistake.
I am trying, and if I make a mistake, I am going to continue trying
I can handle making a mistake.
It is okay for others to make mistakes too
I will accept mistakes in myself and also mistakes that others make."

I think a virtuous man should be like grass.

When I have the time to take a walk,
I would often take the time to admire the grass.

Grass doesn't make a fuss.
It doesn't try to be beautiful or outstanding.
It doesn't want to attract attention.
It is so humble that it even allows people to walk all over it.
 Yet, it possess such strength.
It glows in healthy green despite being stepped all over,

and when a typhoon strikes and all the flowers die
and all the trees get uprooted, humble grass survives.
And humble grass, in its own humble way, provides food for animals, shelter for insects,
and joy to some funny guy walking past.

I think a virtuous man should be like grass.
Humble, unnoticed, yet possessing great strength and kindness.

How long will you keep pounding on an open door

Wisdom tells me I am nothing. Love tells me I am everything.

Between the two my life flows.

- Nisargadatta Maharaj

In the morning, the one who does not understand will consider what he will do,

while the one who understands will consider what the one will do with him.

How long will you keep pounding on an open door begging for someone to open it?

Finger Pointing at the moon.

Buddhism is not saying that the Self, the great atman, or whatnot, it isn’t denying that the experience which corresponds to these words is realizable.

What it is saying is that if you make conceptions and doctrines about these things, your liable to become attached to them. You’re liable to start believing instead of knowing. So they say in Zen Buddhism, ‘The doctrine of Buddhism is a finger pointing at the moon. Do not mistake the finger for the moon.’ Or so we might say in the West, the idea of God is a finger pointing at God, but what most people do is instead of following the finger, they suck it for comfort. And so buddha chopped off the finger, and undermined all metaphysical beliefs.

There are many, many dialogues in the Pali scriptures where people try to corner the buddha into a metaphysical position. ‘Is the world eternal?’ The buddha says nothing. ‘Is the world not eternal?’ And he answers nuttin’. ‘Is the world both eternal and not eternal?’ And he don’t say nuttin’. ‘Is the world neither eternal nor not eternal?’ And STILL he don’t say nuttin’.

He maintains what is called the noble silence. Sometimes called the thunder of silence, because this silence, this metaphysical silence, is not a void. It is very powerful. This silence is the open window through which you can see not concepts, not ideas, not beliefs, but the very goods. But if you say what it is that you see, you erect an image and an idol, and you misdirect people. It’s better to destroy people’s beliefs than to give them beliefs. I know it hurts, but it is The Way.

No Time

I knelt to pray but not for long I had to much to do

I had to hurry and get to work For bills would soon be due.

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer And jumped up off my knees.

My Christian duty was now done My soul could rest at ease.

All day long I had no time To spread a word of cheer

No time to speak of Christ to friends, They'd laugh at me I'd fear.

No time, no time, too much to do, That was my constant cry.

No time to give to souls in need, But at last.....the time to die.

I went before the Lord, I came, I stood with downcast eyes,

For in His hands God held a book, It was the book of life.

God looked into his book and said,

"Your name I cannot find,

I once was going to write it down ... But never found the time." Lovely Thoughts for Lovely People Just Like You
